Telecommunications Law
Susan has over 20 years of specialized experience in state and federal telecommunications law and policy. She has an extensive background in federal and state public policy strategy and advocacy, government relations, administrative law and litigation, privacy, regulatory compliance and general telecommunications legal issues. Susan’s experience includes practicing law in-house, at a law firm, at a state agency, and as a member of industry associations.
Regulatory, Litigation, Transactions & Advocacy
Susan has handled matters ranging from certifications to formal administrative hearings to rulemakings to workshops in nearly all fifty states plus Puerto Ruco and the US Virgin Islands. Additionally, she has supported numerous state legislative efforts – reviewing bills, drafting legislation and advocating. Susan has also been responsible for advocacy on matters pending before the Federal Communications Commission and has helped clients understand and implement requirements including those dealing with federal and state Lifeline, privacy, disaster mitigation, outage reporting, federal Customer Proprietary Network Information, Broadband Labels, SIM Swap and Port Out and the Safe Connections Act.
Before joining FH2, Susan served as President of a competitive carrier association (CompSouth), and has participated actively in other trade associations and many less formal coalitions. Additionally, Susan was sole in-house counsel for Telrite (a provider of wireless telecommunications) and, before that, Susan was an in-house state regulatory attorney for Sprint, NuVox (a CLEC), and MCI.
Outside of the Office
Susan enjoys spending time with her husband and daughters. She likes youga, seeing live music and travel.
